The Hutch

It’s no secret that I love to shop. I am always buying pieces that might work for a potential client or things to add to my personal collection. For the first time, I have decided to make these treasures available to the public.

I have created "The Hutch", a mini shop, in my design office where these antiques, artwork, and unique decorative objects of all price points are for sale.

Some items include a pair of Art Deco taborets for $600, a 19th century hand painted two-panel screen for $900, a pair of 85”H woven stainless steel columns 85" for $3600, as well as beautiful 20” and 22” pillows made from antique textiles, some with coordinating lumbars.

The Hutch is open to the public:
306 East 61st Street, 5th floor
Hours are 9-5 M-F
Cash, check, or charge

The selection will be updated frequently, but hurry in before it is all gone!

Thanksgiving Entertaining Part II

Here’s another tip to make preparing for Thanksgiving extremely easy. If baking is just not your thing, or you know that making the turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce will take up all the time you have for your Thanksgiving preparation, order a Seven Layer Caramel Cake from Caroline’s Cakes. This delicious bakery ships these southern treats all over the country! The Caramel Cake can be frozen and reserved and it is certainly large enough to satiate your entire Thanksgiving dinner party. Try serving it with ice cream. Why not order a cake and keep it in your freezer to always have on hand? These cakes are John’s favorite!

Thanksgiving Entertaining Part I

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Start your preparation now for a stress-free entertaining season.

I always suggest you do a buffet. I like to arrange the food on the sideboard. This way your guests feel comfortable to get up and help themselves to more, and you don’t have to bother with the hassle of passing hot dishes around the table. For the buffet, build up your arsenal of wonderful platters. Food always looks so pretty on big platters and platters are great things to collect on your travels or trips to the local crafts fair. Treillage sells the neatest real pine baskets that are great for a buffet too. Line them with a pretty colored napkin and use them to serve bread or to hold flatware.

Speaking of napkins, Treillage just started to carry lovely linen napkins with a picot trim edge. Believe it or not, they can be custom colored! Use them with a coordinating linen placemat or a printed tablecloth.

All items pictured are available at Treillage Ltd., 1015 Lexington Ave., New York, NY 10021, (212) 988-8800.
