I was thrilled to have three items of my Kips Bay room included in a New York Times article called “Low-Cost Means to High-Design Ends”. I have always been conscious of client’s budgets and truly believe that great design does not have to come with a huge price tag. I am looking forward to using Bunny’s Buzz to share some of my budget-friendly ideas with you. Here’s the first:
WHEN IN DOUBT, COVER IT UP!
• Try upholstering fabric or inexpensive vinyl on doors and attach with nailhead trim. A pair of unsightly bi-fold closet doors can take on a whole new life! Faux snake-skin or crocodile can be a chic and ASPCA approved technique!
• A local cabinet maker can make an inexpensive wood Parsons Table (or even purchase one from Ikea) that can be covered up in a chic laminated print or painted with a high gloss, lacquer-like finish. West Elm has been known to offer one with a drawer for under $200!
• Create a new look for an existing sofa by using a colorful embroidered throw or antique textile on the back of the sofa and pair of coordinating pillows. If you need to create a more subdued look choose textiles that are more tone on tone in neutrals and browns and pair with a faux fur throw.

A throw over the sofa and an antique suzani thrown over a chair in my living room in the Dominican Republic.
My dogs love to sit on the sofa in my barn in CT. I put an old throw over the seat cushions to prevent wear and tear.
The Arabesque Throw in the BeeLine Collection I brings so many beautiful colors to a room! I developed it with Naeem Khan and it is all hand-embroidered in India.
I love my Naughty Miss Bunny Throw! It is pet-friendly chic.
